Weekly Letter September 4th-7th

Dear Parents,

We will finish up reading The Ballad of Mulan tomorrow.  On Thursday, we begin our last story in our first theme.  The story is called The Waterfall.  It is a realistic fiction story about a family that goes camping. The comprehension skill we will be working on is cause and effect.  The strategy focus is predicting and inferring.  The two grammar focuses are inflected endings -ed and -ing and proper nouns.  Our spelling focus is on the vowel consonant e pattern.  In Math, we are continuing to focus on Multiplication.  We will be working on the 7’s, 8's, 9's, 11's, and 12's this week.  We are also learning our Division facts.  They will be taught their 1's, 2's, and 5's this week.  We will also review all the previously taught skills thus far.  We will finish our first chapter book, James and the Giant Peach around Thursday.  Their first book project is coming soon!
