Homework:
Homework assignments will be written (by student) in their Homework Folder daily. There will be homework given daily except for Fridays. In the event of a project or book report, homework assignments will be altered to allow time to work on these projects. Homework is vital to your child's academic success. Written homework should be done neatly on loose-leaf notebook paper. Both written homework and Agenda should be returned to school the next day. They will be stamped if completed. If homework is incomplete, the portion they need to complete will be highlighted, and they will complete it during their recess time that day. Homework is not graded.
Reading Log:
Within the homework folder, there will be a monthly Reading Log. It will need to be filled out Monday thru Thursday with a chapter book of their choosing and/or the chapter book we are reading for that Theme. They must read 20 minutes a day for homework. If this is not completed or filled out, they will read and fill it out during their recess time.
Graded Work:
Your child will take home every other Friday (every 2 weeks) a folder with classroom work that has been graded. You are to go over the work and keep the work. I will need you to initial next to the grades on the inside of the folder and return the folder that upcoming Monday.
Weekly Letters:
You will receive a weekly letter telling you what your child will be learning for that week, also on this letter will be any dates that you may need to remember for that coming week. You will receive these letters on Monday.
Grading: You will receive your child's papers back graded with scores of a 4, 3, 2, or 1. 4 means Advanced/ above grade level, 3 Proficient/ at grade level, 2 Basic/ slightly below grade level, and 1 Below Basic/ below to severely below grade level.
Classroom Website:
If you have a computer at home, you will be able to access the weekly letters, as well as, other resources to help your child practice skills for the week, month, or year. The website is:
