Dear
Parents,
Your
child finished reading the story The Lost and Found by Mark Teague today.
Your child tested on all the grammar and comprehension skills today, as
well as, had their vocabulary and spelling test. On Tuesday, your child
will begin the second story of the third grade, The Ballad of Mulan,
which is another adventure story. The genre this time is a legend, specifically
a Chinese legend of a heroic girl named Mulan. The reading strategy is monitor
& clarify, the comprehension skills is making inferences, the grammar focus
is on the 4 different types of sentences, and the spelling focus will be the
short vowel sound o and u. In math your child will be working on rounding
to the nearest, tens, hundreds & thousands, missing addends, & multiplication
facts 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. In Social Studies your child will be working on
a 4 Regions book and their topographic California Maps.
